Book Review: Sisters of Sword & Song by Rebecca Ross

The sisters referenced in the title of this YA fantasy book are a couple of totally kick-ass females and I am absolutely loving it. The story takes place in an alternate ancient Greek world and the author even made up her own myths and legends. Nine divines left magical relics on earth and the humans who find and possess them will have great power. When certain relics fall into the wrong hands, Evadne and Halcyon aren’t having any of it and do what strong girls do best. Fix it. Oh, and there are some kinda cool guys involved, too.

Oh, how I wish this was a series, but Sisters of Sword & Song is a standalone novel. I will miss these characters and probably forever wonder what they’d be up to if their stories continued. (Please tell me I’m not the only one who does that…) The release date is June 23, 2020.

Reasons I liked this book:

A well built fictional world.

Strong female characters.

Vivid descriptions of surroundings.

The nine relics and their powers were interesting and well thought out.

Book Quote: “She breathed in every possibility, every particle of shadow and light. And she began to sing.”

Rating: 4 stars
